Hofmeister is a traditional family business in the furniture trade that has been in existence for over 130 years. Today, Hofmeister is one of the leading furniture retailers in Germany: with more than 1,000 employees, Hofmeister offers a wide range of furniture and furnishing accessories for various living areas. Customers can buy the products in the many Hofmeister furniture stores, but also in the online shop www.hofmeister.de in particular: here they can browse the range online, gain furnishing ideas and be inspired by the diverse range.
The corporate values of the offline world also apply to the online business. As a modern family business, Hofmeister focuses on long-term customer relationships, great shopping experiences and high-quality products and advice.
Before ODOSCOPE
The hofmeister.de online shop is based on the Shopware system. The product lists are currently sorted manually, which is extremely labor-intensive and time-consuming. At the same time, the degree of personalization is very low, as there are currently very few options for individualization. The previous display strategies do not provide for A/B tests for the product lists. Every customer and shop visitor receives almost the same online offer.
Hofmeister has a very extensive range that provides many detailed product descriptions. This is all information that offers the best conditions for personalized content, but which has been so far completely unused. A uniform playout logic applies to all product categories - without any adaptation to the current shop visitor or the already known customer or their current shopping situation. Hofmeister sees great potential for optimization and therefore wants to focus its future online strategy on individual relevance. All available user, customer and product data will be actively used and incorporated into a variety of display strategies.

Solution and Achievements
To achieve this, Hofmeister uses the ODOSCOPE Customer Engagement Platform. Product lists are automated and displayed individually for each user, whether known or unknown: ODOSCOPE has its own AI algorithms that use the behavior of the current shop visitor and determine and display appropriate content based on the situation. This situationalization, for example according to device, location, day of the week or time, is possible for all users and is 100% data protection compliant. ODOSCOPE does not require user consent.
A/B tests can be easily set up with the ODOSCOPE platform and analyzed in the interactive dashboard, allowing hypotheses to be tested and valuable insights to be gained. Thanks to the effective data activation, Hofmeister is now able to use the large amount of product information profitably and create different display strategies for the different categories to suit the user.
The furniture industry usually has many different product groups, all of which are played out using the same ranking algorithm. With ODOSCOPE, different sales strategies for different product groups can now be applied quickly and easily. This allows Hofmeister to strike a balance between relevance and personalization and meeting its own business goals.
Thanks to the prior knowledge of Head of E-Commerce & Online Marketing Ibrahim Ekmekci, who had already used ODOSCOPE extensively during his time at a fashion eetailer, the already very streamlined implementation process completed as quickly as possible using the ODOSCOPE Shopware plugin.

We offer plugins for Shopware, Shopify and Salesforce for quick and easy integration into a shop system (as of Q1, 2024). Otherwise ODOSCOPE is integrated into the store system via REST API. The integration is thoroughly documented and closely monitored by our reliable Customer Success Team.
Each of our customers is in close contact with a dedicated account manager and representative from our Customer Success team. Personal contacts are always available via email or a customer-specific Slack or Teams channel.
An ODOSCOPE license is essentially calculated based on the traffic volume of an online shop per year (sessions per year in 1 million steps). Another factor is the number of AI modules used for the various onsite personalization activities like product list sorting, search result sorting, recommendations, mailings, adaptive ads etc.
We want all customers to be happy and satisfied with our solution and services, of course. However, if a customer decides to end the contract, the contractually agreed notice period applies. In general, an annual license will be renewed for another year unless it is cancelled in writing with 3 months notice to the end of the contract.
